Last month we said farewell to Jody, our much-loved Accounts Manager at Red Beach. After five and a half years with Horizon, Jody’s contribution to the team has been immense from keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes to always bringing a cheerful energy to the office. She’ll be greatly missed by all of us, and we wish her every success in her next chapter.

What’s happening with the Kaipara District Plan?

With the Government pausing council-led plan changes, or the introduction of new district plans, what’s the status of the current Kaipara District Plan?

The Kaipara District Plan (2013) remains operative for land use and development in the district. Although the Proposed Kaipara District Plan was notified earlier this year and submissions have closed, its future is now uncertain due to the Government’s recent announcement to halt council-led plan changes under the Resource Management Act (RMA). This move is part of a broader reform to replace the RMA with a new planning system by 2027.

What does this mean for landowners and developers?

For now, the 2013 Plan governs decisions, even though it may not always fully reflect the current environment. There are still viable pathways for subdivision and land use resource consents.

At Horizon, we help clients understand what’s possible under the current framework and how to prepare for future changes. If you're unsure where your land stands, now is a good time to seek advice.

Project Focus: Sunnybrae Road

From farmland to a thriving urban hub this comprehensive redevelopment project is now transforming the 2.4ha site into a vibrant, architecturally designed community. The first stages of this redevelopment will deliver 30 quality two- and three-bedroom Units (two- and three-storeyed), complete with basement parking, all part of a much larger, multi-staged masterplan.

Alongside new and future commercial and retail spaces, this development will make a lasting impact on the local neighbourhood and contribute to the evolving landscape of Auckland’s North Shore.

Horizon is proud to be providing the full suite of surveying and land development services, including:

🔹 Topographical survey

🔹 Building & drainage set-out

🔹 As-built surveys

🔹 Height in relation to boundary

🔹 Land Transfer Fee Simple and Unit Title surveys

We’re also managing the subdivision process end-to-end, from s.223 & s.224c certification to LINZ approvals, ensuring a smooth path to title issue and sales.

Another successful outcome for our clients and for Auckland’s growing urban landscape.

This project was oversee by Richard Bromley our Survey Manager. To find out more about this project you can read it here.
