Horizon Surveying and Land Development are seeking a Junior/Intermediate Planner for our busy consultancy.

Horizon are surveying and land development specialists. We are a multi-disciplinary land surveying, planning, development, landscape architecture, architectural design and project management consultancy. Our ethos is to look beyond the horizon and to provide sustainable development for future generations. We offer the opportunity to be part of a close knit busy and vibrant team. We are involved in a diverse range of projects and clients throughout the Auckland and Kaipara region. We are a locally owned growing company, and are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic planner to join us.

Key requirements of this role are:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Sound Knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991
  • Strength and experience in dealing with District and Regional Councils
  • Appropriate Planning, Resource Management, Geography or Social Sciences degree
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when required

Remuneration will be commensurate on skills and experience for the role. To be the successful candidate, you will have a planning qualification and be well organised, with excellent communication and computer skills. Relevant work experience would be preferred but is not essential. You will need to be creative, with the ability to problem solve, have an eye for detail and the ability to learn quickly.

Horizon are seeking an Intermediate/Senior Civil Engineer for our busy consultancy.

We are a multi-disciplinary consultancy looking to expand our engineering capabilities. Our ethos is to look beyond the horizon and to provide sustainable development for future generations. We offer the opportunity to be part of a close knit, busy and vibrant team. We are involved in a diverse range of projects and clients throughout the Auckland and Kaipara region. We are a fast-growing, family-owned company, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified Civil Engineer to join us to help manage the needs of our growing business which services clients.

Key requirements of this role are:
  • Civil Design, calculations & Reporting
  • Construction supervision
  • Contract management
  • Planning and conducting projects of reasonable complexity
  • Management of Junior or Intermediate Engineering or Draughting staff in a project team
  • Management of project deliverables
Remuneration will commensurate on skills and experience for the role. To be the successful candidate, you will have:
  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering is essential.
  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Strong communication (written and verbal English) and self-management skills.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in land development and is a Charted Professional Engineer.
You will need to be creative, with the ability to problem solve, have an eye for detail and the ability to learn quickly.

What will I be doing?

Being a part of a small company will mean you will get hands on experience on a wide variety of projects. You will be given the opportunity to work on your own projects from start to finish. Gaining experience on all aspects of the job including client interaction. There are great opportunities for further learning and support with licensing, CPD and exposure to all aspects of land development and subdivision.

You will be part of a close knit, and vibrant team, who enjoy a good laugh. In addition to Joe, you will be working alongside our Licensed Survey Manager, our Senior Surveyor and two excellent surveyor technicians. They will be placed alongside you to assist you as you grow.

What are we looking for?

Our Graduate Surveyor role is for those completing the bachelor’s degree by the end of 2023 or have less than one years’ experience. We are looking for individuals who are a:

  • Surveying Graduate with NZ-based qualification
  • Maturity and the ability to work on projects with minimum supervision.
  • Accurate field surveying skills across a range of projects
  • Competence operating Trimble GNS and total station equipment
  • Knowledge of 12D and Landonline software
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
