March 2025 Newsletter

As we settle into autumn, there’s plenty happening at Horizon! We were proud to sponsor the Lions Mangawhai Food & Wine Festival this month, supporting our local community and celebrating the best of the region.

Looking ahead, we’re also excited to host our Trade Breakfast in Mangawhai this April—a great chance to connect with industry professionals over a bite to eat.

Make sure to follow us on social media for updates on these events and more from the Horizon team.

Proposed Kaipara District Plan 2025

The Kaipara District Council has approved notification of the Proposed Kaipara District Plan 2025. The new plan will be publicly notified on Monday 28 April, with public consultation running through to 30 June 2025.

The new Plan will set the direction for how rural, urban and commercial land in Kaipara can be used, developed, subdivided and protected over the next 10 years. It will affect property rights, investment decisions, and land use across the entire Kaipara District.

The new Plan will be growth focused and introduces new urban and rural development opportunities. If you’re developing or investing, this is the time to act.

Horizon at CSNZ

Last week, our Director, Joe Fletcher, attended the Consulting Surveyors New Zealand (CSNZ) Conference in Auckland, an incredible opportunity to connect, learn, and discuss the future of our industry.

Joe's standout sessions was on AI and the power of a good prompt, presented by Mark Laurence from Ten Past Tomorrow.

As technology continues to shape the way we work, understanding how to craft the right questions is just as important as finding the answers! Great to see the industry embracing innovation.

Project Focus: Shoal Sanctuary Stage 4

Our architectural design manager Frank Stanton recently visited Shoal Beach in the Southern Hawkes Bay to check the progress of the fantastic carpentry work that the professional team from Wakelin Contracting Services Ltd are delivering in constructing the Shoal Sanctuary project.

With excellent warm summer weather on offer we were able to capture some magical images and videos of this special coastal bespoke build coming to life as it nears completion of the Nu-Wall external cladding installation stage.

Nu-Walls extruded aluminium cladding system is ideally suited for providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing external cladding system that can effectively handle seaside slat air environments of open coastline regions like Shoal Beach.

A big thank you to Scott & Nichole and their local beach side friends for the great hospitality shown towards us throughout our visit. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay at such a magnificent patch of coastal New Zealand!!
