Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) Update

LINZ recently increased their fees, effective 3 February 2025. These changes will affect the cost of property transactions, including survey and title services. If you have any upcoming projects, we recommend factoring in these adjustments.

Auckland Council Developer Contribution Update

Auckland Council has announced an increase in developer contributions, set to take effect in May. These changes will impact development costs across the region.

If you're planning a project, it’s worth considering these adjustments in your budgeting. For more details, visit the Auckland Council website or reach out to us for guidance.

Key Proposed Changes:
  • General Increase: The average development contribution per household equivalent unit (HUE) is expected to rise from $21,000 to $30,000.
  • Investment Priority Areas (IPAs): Significant investments are planned for the Inner Northwest and areas such as Tāmaki, Māngere, and Mt Roskill. Over the next 30 years, an additional $8.9 billion is allocated for these regions, leading to the following proposed increases:
    • Inner Northwest: From $25,167 to $98,000 per HUE.
    • Māngere: From $18,123 to $29,000 per HUE.
    • Mt Roskill: From $20,406 to $52,000 per HUE.
    • Tāmaki: From $31,157 to $119,000 per HUE.

These increases reflect Auckland Council's strategy to fund infrastructure development in high-growth areas, ensuring that new communities have access to essential services and amenities.
