The design brief requested a home that would extend & mimic the long narrow form of the terrain it would be sited upon & therefore allow all internal spaces to effectively capture the majestic rural / coastal views on offer in all compass directions. Being situated in such a raised viewing location it was most important that a sympathetic / respectful visual appearance resulted for this bespoke family home ensuring it would not overwhelm & distract from the beauty of the surrounding rural environment it was located within.
To successfully tackle these challenges Horizon’s Architectural Design Manager Frank Stanton focused on creating a high performing modern 3-bedroom dwelling that delivered the desired simple low profile minimalistic built shape incorporating the use of fit for purpose eloquent low maintenance external cladding materials that together successfully integrated this resulting attractive home into the surrounding environment.
The northern face features floor to ceiling glazing that once open allows outdoor environments to blend with internal spaces where the dramatic scale and lines are further emphasised by the black kitchen and the negative detail ply ceiling.
Key design features include all external joinery being specifically aligned to fit evenly between the dark neutral tone vertical weatherboards that majority clad the building. Natural finish stack bond block walls & large format red panel boards provide highlights at each respective end of the building & further assist with creating strong clean artistic lines that link with the low profile roof line that is gently angled to divert the prevailing wind flow as well as reinforce the box geometry of the design.
As a finalised completed package, 4 Seasons Vista achieved the result that was envisioned be it capturing the amazing views, offering seamless indoor-outdoor flow and considered built form that creates clean visual aesthetics that impress. We acknowledge and appreciate the expert craftsmanship provided by Smith Construction Ltd who carefully formed the overall building in a manner true to its intended purpose.
